A decade of manufacturing in Chowk, Lucknow.

Founded in 2013 and based in Chowk — the historic epicentre of Lucknow's Chikankari trade — Awadh Karigiri manufactures and exports authentic handcrafted Chikankari to boutiques, retailers and importers across India, USA, UK, UAE, Australia, Canada and Germany.

We manage the complete Chikankari production chain — from fabric sourcing and artisan embroidery to quality control, finishing and export packaging — ensuring consistency in every shipment, whether it's a small boutique reorder or a bulk export consignment.

From the royal courts of Awadh to boutiques in New York and London — the journey of Lucknow's most treasured craft.

1600s

Mughal Patronage

Chikankari flourishes under Mughal emperors. Nur Jahan is credited with introducing Persian floral embroidery to Lucknow's artisans.

1700s

Nawabi Refinement

Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula's court in Lucknow elevates Chikankari into an art form. The 32 distinct stitches are codified. Chowk becomes the trade heart.

1857

Craft Survives Upheaval

Despite the dissolution of the Nawabi court, artisan families preserve the craft through generations, passing techniques verbally and through practice.

2008

GI Tag Granted

The Government of India grants Chikankari a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, formally recognising Lucknow as the sole authentic origin of this craft.

Established in Chowk, Lucknow — in the historic heart of the Chikankari trade — with a mission to bring authentic handcrafted Chikankari to global markets through ethical, quality-first manufacturing.
